Techlawtopia features one essay every month about how technology is impacting business, politics, law and culture – with sharp insights from India.
Hi, I'm Amlan – a tech lawyer and policy analyst based in Bangalore, India. I help people solve complex problems and unlock strategic opportunities.
Most recently I was at Google where I managed the public policy and regulatory portfolio across privacy, content, platforms and emerging technologies in India.
I've worked at some of India’s finest law firms and helped the Indian government develop landmark policies. I have a degree from the National Law School of India.
Ethics & Disclosures
I’m driven by curiosity and write thoughtfully, based on first principles, data, logic and experience.
Some individuals or organisations could directly or indirectly benefit from my writing. In the interest of transparency, I’m disclosing that:
- I own shares in Google, my former employer.
- I consult with various individuals, businesses and non-profits on legal, regulatory and policy issues in the tech sector. My list of clients is confidential.
- I disclose conflicts of interest to my clients before engaging on any assignment. I also declare any conflict of interest publicly where possible.
- I don’t hold official positions on any government committees.
